Would you let a doctor perform surgery on you outside the hospital? Would you let a friend defend you instead of a lawyer in a mistaken-identity murder case? The reason we ask is we see so many botched jobs by so-called mechanics. However we, at V DEPOT, have the experience to get the job done correct. Our prices include many small parts that most shops do not even know about. Do not let someone learn automobile repair on your car.
We are here to serve you. We offer free car inspections to our established customers. Please do not ask us to repair your car over the phone or through e-mail. Just as a doctor has regular patients, let us get to know you and your car personally by becoming a regular customer.
Having regular inspections by qualified techs who know VW's and Audi's will help identify potential problems before they actually become problems.
Warning Lights
1. If the CHECK ENGINE light is on, it is on for a reason. Sometimes a vehicle can have a yellow engine or mil light and it will not be immediately harmful to your car. It could be weeks, months or even years before something actually needs to be done, all depending. We have the knowledge and experience to properly diagnose, inform you on your options and let you decide.
Most YELLOW warning lights will let you drive your car for a short time.
A RED warning light means DO NOT DRIVE!!
Oils and Fluids
2. Check oil every month. Use the correct specification type and weight of oil for your engine type. Your car is unique and requires the right oil. In a few years most cars will all use the same type of oil.
3. Change oil & filter every 3000 miles. Regular oil 5,000 miles. Use 5-40 100% synthetic oil with a rating of VW 502.00 or vw 505.00 rating. It is engineered specifically to meet the Volkswagen and Audi engine warranty requirements.
4. Change coolant when it looks dirty (or every 2 years) and use phosphate-free pink VWAudi brand coolant only. Your coolant is supposed to be good for the car's lifetime but that is only in a perfect world. Use common sense and check your coolant regularly. You can dip a piece of white paper in the water bottle like a dipstick if it is pink or very clean it most likely is ok.
5. Bleed brakes every 2 years. Use Dot 4 or Super Dot 4 fluid. IT should look clear or translucent light green. When brake fluid is low most likely your brakes are worn. As the pads wear, the brake pistons come out and the fluid level goes down. Do not over fill with out looking at the brake pads!
6. Change fuel filter at least every 40k miles. It is supposed to last longer but again, that is in a perfect world. Always go to busy gas stations. That way, you are less likely to pick up contaminants in your fuel .
7. Use fuel injector cleaner every couple months
