MY COOLANT LIGHT IS FLASHING...the temp gauge is still below the 3/4 mark...my temperature gauge doesn't register at all....

Pull off the road immediately, then:

1. Check the coolant reservoir bottle to see if it's low, sometimes the system is low from coolant evaporating over time and a simple refill will fix the low coolant light.

2. If coolant leaks can be seen around the hoses, on the engine, or under the vehicle, allow your engine to cool and top off the system...Call VW Depot and let us inspect your cooling system.
CAUTION: Never open the reservoir cap when the engine is warm as the HOT coolant is under pressure.
 
3. Sometimes the temp gauge can fool you by not moving at all, that is because the temp sensor cannot read "steam" in the cooling system. In this situation, you will know the engine is too hot by feeling a loss of power and hearing the "ping" resulting from pre ignition or detonation. Again, this will lead to serious engine damage.
